Pakistani Hockey team arrives India to play on Indian turf

Amritsar : The Pakistan hockey team here Tuesday crossed over to  India via the Attari-Wagah border for the upcoming Asian Champions Trophy slated to be held in Chennai from August 3.

The much -anticipated match between arch-rivals India and Pakistan will take place on August 9.

The Pakistan team is scheduled to fly into Chennai later tonight after entering Amritsar by road.

Muhammad Saqlain, head coach of the Pakistan Hockey team, told  media that the team was scheduled to travel to Chennai to play in the Asian Champions Trophy. The teams from all over Asia are featuring in the tournament.  We can hope for good and stronger relationships with sports, he quipped. He said, “We are here to extend the hand of friendship with our Indian counterpart. “This is not the first time I am here India, as earlier I have played many times on Indian turf in different capacities”, said he.
