To save time ,Chandigarh Airport gets in line baggage screening system

SAS Nagar (Mohali) : Chandigarh International Airport in its endeavor to facilitate its passengers, has upgraded itself with technological enhancement in the field of Baggage Handling system with installation of In-line Baggage Screening System informed Vini Mahajan, Chief Secretary Punjab after the inauguration of the newly installed In-line Baggage Screening System.

Sharing the details it was informed that the In-line System will reduce the baggage handling time to half with respect to standalone screening. It can handle 1500 bags/hr. With new system in place, passengers no longer need to personally queue up for baggage screening.

The system is expected to aid hassle free check-in and save on an average 5 to 10 minutes time per passenger. The project has been completed with a cost of Rs. 15.8 Cr and has been integrated with existing Baggage Handling system to provide complete Baggage processing and screening system

Vini Mahajan had a glimpse into the new facilities at the Airport and thereafter held a meeting with the officials in the Conference Hall and discussed at length about the issues related to further development of Chandigarh Airport.

The inauguration was held in the presence of Tejveer Singh Principal Secretary Civil Aviation Punjab, Pradeep Kumar Agrawal Chief Administrator GMADA, Girish Dayalan DC Mohali, Air Commodore Tejbir Singh, D.K. Kamra, Regional Executive Director, AAI, Northern Region(joined via video link) and  Ajay Kumar CEO Chandigarh International Airport along with officials of Customs/Immigration/Punjab Police.
