SAS Nagar: On the occasion of the New Year, Vijay Dutt, Member, Punjab State Food Commission, extended his warm greetings to the district administration and issued necessary directions for strengthening the effective and ground-level implementation of the National Food Security Act.
Vijay Dutt stated that the National Food Security Act is a statutory right of the poor, vulnerable, and economically weaker sections of society, and its implementation must be ensured in letter and spirit. He emphasized that in the New Year, special focus must be laid on ensuring timely, transparent, and inclusive delivery of food security benefits to all eligible beneficiaries.
He highlighted that at the district level, the ADC (Development) plays a crucial role not only in administration but also as the District Grievance Redressal Officer (DGRO) under the National Food Security Act. In this capacity, the ADC (Development) is expected to ensure prompt, fair, and effective disposal of food security-related grievances.
Vijay Dutt issued directions that Provisions of the National Food Security Act must be implemented effectively at the district level.
Accurate identification of eligible beneficiaries should be ensured, with no deserving family left out.
Complaints received under the DGRO mechanism must be resolved within stipulated timelines.
Monitoring, inspection, and grievance redressal systems should be further strengthened.
Field-level gaps and implementation bottlenecks must be addressed promptly, with regular reporting to the Commission.
He expressed confidence that with a positive, result-oriented administrative approach in the New Year, the objectives of food and nutritional security would be further strengthened, bringing meaningful benefits to the poor and underprivileged sections of society.
Vijay Dutt concluded by stating that coordinated efforts between the Commission and the district administration would significantly enhance public trust and ensure effective realization of food security rights.
