Gohana: A well-planned theft was reported during night at Gohana in Sonipat district leaving a shock among residents throughout the area. The thief suspected a Nepali servant reported missing after the incident targeted the home of a prominent family in property business, residing in Ward No 10 while family members were away attending a wedding. Only an elderly woman and servant who had been working there for many years were present in the house at the time of incident. The family returned home late midnight and in the morning found the safe was cut open, cash worth lakhs and a large quantity of gold and silver ornaments were missing, while the elderly woman was found unconscious. The incident raised questions about the security system in the city.
According to homeowner Ajay Saini, works as a property dealer the thieves brought a gas cutter and cut open the safe, fleeing with approximately 35 tolas of gold jewelry, 1.25 kilograms of silver jewelry and approximately 10 lakh rupees in cash. This cash was kept for the registration of the property the next day. The safe also contained jewelry belonging to the family’s father, son and daughter, which was stolen. According to the family, the elderly mother, who was present in the house, was found unconscious in the morning. The Nepali servant, who had been working there for several years, has been missing since the incident.
Upon receiving information about the incident, police arrived at the scene and called in the FSL team to collect evidence. Footage from nearby CCTV cameras is being examined to identify the thieves. Police launched a search for the servant and are raiding his possible hideouts after registering the complaint. The FSL team arrived at the spot and started collecting evidence. Cabinet Minister Arvind Sharma has assured that the matter is under police investigation, and has been instructed to take strict action. Following this major theft in Ward No. 10, local residents are in a state of fear. Residents say that the thieves’ arrival with a gas cutter indicates a premeditated incident. Currently, the police are conducting a thorough investigation and are promising a solution soon.
