Seven gangsters killed, 47 arrested in one year in Haryana says CM Nayab Saini

Chandigarh: Monsoon session of Haryana assembly on the last day witnessed hue and cry with the opposition as regard worsening law and order as well as fast increasing drug smuggling and drug addiction among youths in the state. Opposition parties raised question over the mysterious death of Bhiwani teacher Manisha and police failure to nab accused, Congress MLAs protested in the assembly and surrounded the government, while Chief Minister Nayab Saini, while responding, said that the law and order situation is better than before and organized crime has been curbed. The opposition parties tried to corner the state government by accusing it of deteriorating law and order situation in Haryana, even protested on this issue. The issue was raised in the House during the assembly session, when the MLAs asked questions in writing, Chief Minister Saini took the lead and replied in writing that the law and order situation is getting better than before. He said the police have put a check on organized crime and said that FIRs were not registered during the rule of INLD and Congress, whereas in the BJP government, gangsters running gangs are being killed.

Chief Minister Saini disclosed that in the year 2024, there were 42 police encounters with criminals in which seven gangsters were killed, while 57 were injured. All were arrested and sent to jail. Replying in writing to an unstarred question by Congress MLA from Kalawali, Sheeshpal Keherwala, the Chief Minister claimed that criminals are leaving Haryana after the formation of Special Task Force (STF) to curb organized crime in 2017 and 106 companies have been formed in the state which are improving law and order.Saini further added that 53 SWAT teams are also deployed to assist the police in which police commandos are deployed. The Chief Minister informed that the Dial 112 facility is also working effectively, 24 Durga Shakti Rapid Action Teams are being operated in the state for women’s safety. CM Saini slams Cong for creating controversies during assembly session. While speaking on various occasions in Sirsa and Kurukshetra on Sunday, the chief minister had hit out at the Congress, pointing out that the Opposition did not have issues to raise. Haryana chief minister Saini on Sunday slammed the leaders of ‘Opposition’ political parties for deliberately creating controversies in the assembly, reiterating that the state government is ready to discuss every issue and said that the ‘Opposition’ has no concrete issues.

In the Haryana Assembly, the ruling government accepted that the problem of drug addiction is increasing in the state, 18847 victims of drug addiction youths are battling drug addiction, out of which 11558 are undergoing treatment. The government has declared 4238 villages and 913 wards as drug-free and has praised the Drug Control Bureau. 46 new de-addiction centres will be opened, of these, 12 de-addiction centres will be opened in district hospitals and 34 de-addiction centres will be opened at sub-division level.

According to information, at present, there are 130 de-addiction centres operating in the state including private, government and semi-government centres.

CM also said recruitment for constable posts in the state police will start soon, enabling to strengthen the law and order situation in Haryana. As regards the recent death of Bhiwani teacher, Haryana chief minister Sunday said that the autopsy reports confirmed that the 19-year-old Bhiwani teacher had died after consuming insecticide, however the case is being investigated by CBI and the ‘Opposition’ has made it an issue without any reason. CM said that the female teacher had bought insecticide from a shop and an entry was also made by the shopkeeper in the register.

“The forensic science laboratory experts and the autopsy reports suggested traces of insecticide in the body of our daughter. Our government is standing with the aggrieved family. Our government handed over the probe to the CBI after receiving a request from the victim’s family. We had transferred the Bhiwani superintendent of police (SP) and suspended five cops after receiving a complaint of misbehaviour from the father of the victim. A departmental inquiry was initiated against the cops,” the chief minister added.
