Panchkula: In a tragic incident in Sector 26, Panchkula where seven members of a suspected debt-ridden family committed suicide by consuming poison. Six members of the family died during treatment at Ojas Hospital in Sector 26 and one in Civil Hospital Panchkula. on Monday. The deceased have been identified as Praveen Mittal and his family. Preliminary investigation revealed that the family was under heavy financial debt due to which they took this step to end their life. This shocking incident happened in Sector-27 on Monday night. According to information the family in business was burdened under debt, committed suicide by consuming poison. As soon as the news spread, information was received a call on 112 the police reached at the hospital. According to information, six people of the family died in Ojas Hospital located in Sector-26, while one died in the Civil Hospital in Sector-6.
The deceased have been identified as Praveen Mittal, his father Des Raj Mittal and their family members. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the family originally hails from Uttarakhand and was living in a rented house in Panchkula involved in tour and travel business. On Monday night at around 11:00, the police received a call on dial 112 that some people who were sitting in a car parked outside house number 1204 were seen in severe pain. On receiving the information, the police ERV reached the spot and found six people sitting in the car struggling to remain alive. Their condition was extremely critical and they were immediately rushed to the hospital in Sector-26. Meanwhile, another person came out of the house seen in heavy pain. The police team took him to the Civil Hospital in Sector-6 for treatment.
DCP Himadri Kaushik, ACP Vikram Nehra, ACP Arvind Kamboj and all CIA teams reached at the spot on getting information. Meanwhile, all seven people were reported dead during treatment in hospitals. According to police, investigation, people close to the family said that Praveen Mittal’s family, started a tour and travel business in Dehradun some time ago, incurred huge losses in that too and at present there was so much financial crisis that the family was not able to even get both end meals, was heavily in debt in business. Apart from Praveen Mittal’s father Deshraj Mittal, his mother, wife, two daughters and a son are among those who committed suicide by cnsuming poison.
