Seven members of family from U P on way to Vaishno Devi killed, 10 severely injured

* Another 10 others sustained injuries in road mishap

Ambala:  Seven members of a family from Bulandshahar in Uttar Pradesh on way to holy Vaishno Devi  shrine lost their lives in a road mishap on Delhi-Ambala highway. The victims were rushed to different hospitals in Ambala and Kurukshetra. According to police information, a tempo traveller in which the pilgrims were travelling crashed into a truck on Delhi-Ambala National Highway near Mohra village close to Ambala Cantt early Friday morning. The victims were on their way from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh to Vaishno Devi to pay obeisance.

According to the passengers travelling in the vehicle there were nearly 30 people and the accident happened after the traveller collided with a truck from rear side. According to the passengers, three persons had died on the spot whereas others succumbed to their injuries on way to hospitals. After the accident, the victims were rushed to different hospitals in Ambala and Kurukshetra. SHO Parao Police station Dalip Kumar said, most of the victims travelling in ill-fated vehicles were relatives and were on their way to holy Vaishno Devi temple. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained. The victims have been shifted to hospitals for treatment.
