Six suspected died due  to spurious liquor in Yamunanagar district

Yamunanagar : As many as six people have been reported dead in private hospitals, whereas two are yet struggling for life undergoing treatment at the private hospitals suspected lost lives after allegedly consuming spurious liquor in Yamunanagar district in Haryana state. Bodies of five victims were confined to the flames at the cremation ground at village Mandebri by their families. According to Ganga Ram Poonia SP Yamunanagar, the deceased have been identified as Sonu (27), Surender (52), Suresh (45) and Vishal (27) all residents of village Mandebari area, whereas Mehar Chand (70) and Swaran Singh are residents of adjopining village Panjeta. Among those yet under the treatment yet struggling for life were identified as Prince and Vipin of age around 22 both residents of Mandebari admitted at the hospital, said the police. Information reveals that the victims became blind after consuming liquor and died after three to seven hours after being brought to the hospital.

As per information, all six died had allegedly consumed liquor sold illegally in Mandebari area was purchased from a youth Rocky of village Mandebri against whom police registered a case under sections 120B, 302,328 of IPC and  section 328, 72 of Excise Act. However, DETC Saroj said that the liquor bottle having fake manufacturing Batch Number of the year 2021 was not purchased from the authorized liquor shop in the area and to find out from where apurious liquor was purchased was the duty of the police department. Manjit Singh CMO Yamunanagar said that none of the victims was brought to the local civil hospital for the treatment and the postmortem report is yet awaited. The residents of the area said that the sale of illegal spurious liquor is common in Yamunanagar district demanding strict action by the police.
