New Delhi– The farmers’ unions have avowed to intensify their agitation in the coming days as part of their calendar list of events shared recently. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha(SKM), umbrella body of peasants’ union has given a clarion call for Bharat Bandh on March to mark completion of four months of the dharna on the outskirts of Delhi.

While many union leaders will be focused on visiting poll-bound states this month, they have also marked dates for key programmes. “On March 15, we will highlight the continuous inflation of petrol and diesel and other essential commodities as part of the anti-privatisation and anti-corporates protest with trade unions,” said Buta Singh Burjgill, a veteran Punjab leader of the Bharatiya Kisan Union. They will also hold a day-long nationwide bandh on March 26, protests in mandis on March 19, youth participation in protests on March 23 to commemorate the martyrdom of Bhagat Singh, and the burning of the three farm laws in Holi fires on March 28.

Meanwhile, Haryana farmers’ unions have sought social boycott of BJP and JJP MLAs in villages and cities after the Manohar Lal Khattar government won the no-confidence motion on Wednesday. Senior SKM members said the no-trust vote has “exposed” those who are with the farmers and the workers, and who is against them.
