Amritsar: The Governor of Punjab emphasized the pivotal role of businessmen and industrialists in driving the state’s economic progress and urged them to collaborate with emerging startups to strengthen the *‘Make in India’* initiative. He was addressing the closing ceremony of the 19th PHDCCI PITEX Fair on Monday, 8 December 2025 as the Chief Guest.
Commending the organizers, industry leaders, exhibitors, foreign delegates, and visitors, the Governor said that PITEX has evolved into a significant platform for trade promotion, business networking, and economic collaboration. “In recent years, PITEX has emerged as a trusted event that connects Punjab’s entrepreneurs with global markets,” he noted.
Highlighting the entrepreneurial spirit of Punjab, the Governor said the expo reflects the dynamism and determination of the state’s business community. He noted that Punjab holds strong potential across high-value manufacturing, food processing, textiles, renewable energy, and modern services. “With a skilled workforce, strategic location, and a business-friendly environment, Punjab remains an attractive destination for investors,” he added.
Expressing satisfaction over the participation of MSMEs, women entrepreneurs, and young startups, the Governor remarked, “They are the backbone of our economic growth and symbolize the innovation and ambition that will shape India’s future.”
PHDCCI Punjab Chapter Chair Karan Gilhotra shared the growth journey of PITEX, recalling that the event began in 2005 with just 50 stalls. “This year, more than 550 businesses participated. With additional space, the numbers could have been even higher,” he said.
Himani Arora, Chair of the Regional Fashion Tex-Tech Forum, PHDCCO stated that the chamber made a concerted effort to engage even the smallest entrepreneurs during the five-day event. With lakhs of visitors, she said PITEX has become an integral part of the social and commercial fabric of Amritsar and Punjab.
Senior Regional Director, PHDCCI **Bharti Sood** presented the forthcoming roadmap of PHDCCI’s events scheduled in Chandigarh and across Punjab.
