Firozepur, April 27: Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal today handed over an imported Covid-19 testing machine worth of Rs 20 lakh to the Jalalabad civil hospital to assist in measures to contain the deadly virus in the state.
He also provided 50,000 bottles of sanitizer for the people of this parliamentary constituency . Earlier, he had given one fully equipped Ambulance for the constituency, with an objective that no one is deprived of medical assistance in border belt. Interacting with newsmen after handing over the testing machine to the district administration, the SAD Chief said it was shocking that the Covid death rate in Punjab was highest in the country which must be contained with corrective measures including ramping up of medical infrastructure immediately. “Punjab requires enhancing of its testing operations across the state as the corona disease can only be contained by tracing, testing and treating of the suspected cases. I have given this machine to facilitate the testing of corona cases at mass level in this border district,” he added.
Giving further details, Sukhbir Badal said he would provide one lakh sanitizer bottles to the people of this constituency. “Out of this, 50,000 sanitizer bottles were handed over to the halqa incharges of Malout, Mukatsar, Jalalabad, Guruharsahai and Fazilka today to keep the people of this constituency safe from the contagious virus,” he said adding that the remaining bottles would be provided shortly.
The SAD president condemned the Punjab government for adopting a discriminating approach in distribution of ration among the poor and needy which had been sent by the Central government. “The Central government relief includes 15 kg wheat and 3 kg Dal was not reaching to the people of Punjab as some Congressmen were involved in embezzlement of this relief material meant for 1.41 crore Punjabis”. He sake the state government should check this or it could result in a law and order problem.
Sukhbir Badal also distributed sanitizers to police personnel. He also thanked them for being there in the front-line to check the spread of virus. He also handed over some sanitizers to medics and paramedics on duty in the region. He also informed that ventilators purchased from his MPLAD funds would be handed over to all government hospitals in Firozepur Lok Sabha constituency within the next week.
