The name of village Panjokhara of Ambala to be changed as’Panjokhara Sahib’ in the government records

 Ambala: Due to the efforts of Haryana Home and Health Minister, Anil Vij, the historical village “Panjokhara” of Ambala Cantonment Assembly constituency is going to be named “Panjokhara Sahib” having famous Gurudwara where pilgrims from distant place visit oftenly according to its religious importance. In this regard, permission has been given by the Central Government to change the name of the village to Panjokhara Sahib and now soon the Haryana Government will again issue its notification.

In view of the religious importance of Panjokhara village, Home Minister Anil Vij had earlier discussed with the state government about changing the name of the village to Panjokhara Sahib. Due to his efforts, a proposal to rename Panjokhara as Panjokhara Sahib was passed in the Haryana Assembly session. This proposal was sent by the state government to the central government to mention the name of the village as Panjokhara Sahib in the government records. Now no objection has been raised by the Central Government on this proposal of the State Government, after which the Haryana Government will soon issue its notification. Apart from the Haryana Government, the information about changing the name of the village has also been given by the Central Government to the Home Ministry, Survey of India, Directorate of Map Publication and other departments.

Panjokhara Sahib village was earlier adopted by Home Minister Anil Vij and due to his efforts, various development works have been completed in the villages till now. Panjokhara Sahib village is now going to be connected to the 40 kilometer long ring road being built in Ambala, which will provide more benefits to the local residents as well as the devotees coming from far away places to visit this village. The road was given a facelift by the Home Minister for the pilgrims to travel from Ambala Cantonment to Panjokhara Sahib. Apart from this, the streets and roads of the village were paved and widened while street lights were also installed, the benefits of which are being availed by the devotees coming here and the local residents. Under the Amrit Sarovar Scheme, the pond in the village has been cleaned and now even boating is being carried out here.

It may recalled that Panjokhara Sahib village has the historical Gurudwara Panjokhara Sahib which is a center of reverence for the devotees. This is the birthplace of the eighth Guru of the Sikhs, Sri Guru Har Kishan Sahib Maharaj, where devotees from not only the country but also from abroad come to pay obeisance. Due to the religious importance of this place, the process of naming the village Panjokhara Sahib was taken forward by the Home Minister.
