Three clerks suspended for embezzlement of Rs 2.32 crore

Deputy Commissioner Sirsa, Parth Gupta suspended three clerks of the Sub-Divisional office in Ellenabad sub division on the charge of embezzlements of government funds worth Rs 2.32 crore during year 2022-23. Ellanabad police registered FIR against three clerks in vehicle registration and licensing department on the complaint of Ellenabad SDM Dr. Ved Beniwal. The alleged accused working in SDM were identified as Jitender Kumar registration clerk, Vikramdeep Singh resident of Dholpalika and Kuldeep Mothsara working as licensing clerk all booked by the police under sections 406, 409 and 420 of the IPC. Police has already arrested Vikramjit who was produced in the court and remanded to police custody on Sunday. Police hopes to arrest the remaining two accused any moment.The SDM, during an inspection had found that the three clerks had not deposited an short amount worth Rs 2.32 crore charged as fee for vehicle registration and driving licenses with the state exchequer from April 2022 till March 2023 and lesser amount was deposited in treasury on the basis of fake documents and stamps by them under a conspiracy between three. An SIT has been constituted by the police to investigate the fraud. Preliminary investigation reveals that less amount was deposited by them as Rs 84,15,710 in case of new vehicle RC fee, nearly Rs 1,47 crore in case of registration fee and Rs 37,319 in case of driving license and renewal fee thus total embezzlements amounting to nearly Rs 2.32 crore.
