Two accused presently on bail for conducting illegal sex determination of foetus arrested

Kurukshetra: Two accused presently released on bail, again started doing illegal fetal sex determination were again arrested by the police along with an ultrasound machine during a raid by the health department accompanied by a police team in Kurukshetra while conducting sex determination of the fetus. They were caught while leaving after conducting the sex determination test at a house in Sector 30 on Sunday. The district health department raiding team recovered Rs 30,000 and a portable ultrasound machine from them. Investigation revealed that several cases have been registered against the accused earlier on the charges of sex determination of the foetus and they were out on bail.

The accused brokers identified as Sukhdev, a resident of Hansala village in Kurukshetra has already got two cases registered against him under PCPNDT in Kurukshetra itself, while his companion Akash was a resident of Naurangpur village in Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, has also two cases registered against him in Kurukshetra and one case in Uttar Pradesh. Preliminary investigation revealed that both of them were out on bail. Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Ramesh Sabharwal said that District Civil Surgeon Dr. Sukhbir Singh had received information that a gang was doing sex determination of fetus in the womb in Kurukshetra, when a team of doctors Rajiv, Abhimanyu, Abhinav and Krishna was formed under the leadership of Dr. Rishi Saini.

The team brought a decoy in contact with the broker. The accused broker Sukhdev demanded Rs 30,000 from the decoy for fetal sex determination and said that he would bring the doctor to his house on Sunday at 11 am. The accused broker Sukhdev brought Akash to Decoy’s house at 11:15 am for an ultrasound and here he checked the sex of the foetus in the womb with a portable machine. After the ultrasound, Decoy was told that the fetus was a boy. As soon as both of them came out of the house after doing the ultrasound, the team caught the accused as soon as they got the signal. Amount worth 30 thousand rupees in cash was recovered also from the accused Sukhdev resident of Hansala village in Kurukshetra, while a portable machine was found in the bag of Akash, resident of Naurangpur village in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.
