Jammu and Kashmir experienced two medium-intensity earthquakes on Monday morning, with no reports of casualties or property damage. 

The National Center for Seismology (NCS) provided details of the seismic activity. 

The first earthquake, measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale, occurred at 5.38 AM. Its epicenter was located in the Doda region of Jammu and Kashmir, at a depth of 10 kilometers. 

Shortly after, at 5.43 AM, a second earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale occurred in the same Doda region, at a depth of eight kilometers.

The region of Kashmir is known to be seismically active, making it highly vulnerable to earthquakes. In the past, devastating earthquakes have caused significant damage in this area.

 In 2005, a 7.6 magnitude earthquake resulted in the loss of over 80,000 lives on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC), the de facto border between Indian-administered and Pakistani-administered regions of Kashmir. 

However, the recent earthquakes have not caused any significant harm, providing relief to the residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
