Rewari. Two members of an interstate ‘Bawaria’ gang have been arrested from Mahendragarh allegedly involved in the case of sexually harassing and looting women inside a house in a village under Sadar police station area. The arrested accused have been identified as Sanju, resident of village Gagadwas in Mahendragarh district and Ram Babu, resident of village Kirtan Meena ki Jodi in district Churu in Rajasthan. Both accused during the investigation revealed that the gang used to target people of their own community. They admitted that apart from Faridabad, the gang members have also committed many crimes in Rajasthan. After the incident, the police got a clue of a gang member from the footage of CCTV cameras installed outside the village. After this, the police reached the accused while investigating. Cases of rape, molestation and Arms Act have been registered against the gang members earlier also.
DSP Dr. Ravindra Kumar said that the Bawaria gang had already done a -preliminary survey of the house which they targeted as regard the financial condition of the family, also ro find out the detail that the head of the family as well as family members available in the house, as such the gang members find out that the male members of the family would be out of the house on April 3 they are going to target for the crime.
Accordingly, on the night of April 3, miscreants reached the village on bikes, hid their bikes in a wheat field and also switched off their mobile phones. The gang members reached the terrace through the back wall of the house. After entering from the back door, they first held the sister-in-law hostage at gunpoint. After this, they caught hold of both females in the house and forced them to take off their clothes and did obscene acts. The gang hung the children of the family upside down so that the women would not make noise.
After this, both members of the gang looted the gold kept in the house threatening to kill them if they raised an alarm for help and also broke the DVR of the CCTV cameras. While leaving, the miscreants threatened that if they told anyone about the incident, they would make the nude videos of the women viral. The police had registered a case on the complaint of victims and started an investigation. DSP Headquarters Dr. Ravindra Singh said that during the initial interrogation, it has come to light that both the accused have also committed few similar crimes of rape and robbery of women in Chhayansa of Faridabad and Rajgarh of Rajasthan. The DSP said that after the incident in Rewari, the accused fled to Rajasthan. From there, they again came to Faridabad and committed the crime and again went to Rajasthan. The gang members were changing their location repeatedly. The DSP said that other incidents will be investigated by taking the accused on remand. The remaining 3 members of this gang who are still absconding will also be caught soon. This is how the whole case was revealed.
DSP Dr. Ravindra Kumar said that the family had told the police that the people who carried out the robbery seemed to be from their own community from their conversation. After this, the police started tracking down such youths of the Bawaria community against whom criminal cases are registered. The police saw some youths going on two bikes in the footage of a CCTV camera installed outside the village. One of these bikes was seen with a youth named Sanju of Gagarwas village of Mahendragarh. When the police furthered the investigation, two cases of rape and molestation were found registered against Sanju. When the police took Sanju into custody and interrogated him, he seemed crazy. Sanju took the name of Ram Babu of Rajasthan during interrogation. When the police arrested Rambabu, it was found that a case was already registered against him under the Arms Act.
Investigation revealed that this gang had a total of five members, all residents of Faridabad and Rajasthan. On 29 May 2025, the same gang looted a family of Bawaria community in Chayasha police station area of Faridabad and raped the women of the family. On 29 June, the gang targeted the women of a family in Rajgarh of Churu district in Rajasthan and also raped them and robbed their belongings.
