Village defense committees in six border districts

Amritsar, June 8 -Governor Punjab Banwari Lal Purhoit during his visit in the border Districts of Punjab announced to form village defense committees to stop drug smuggling from Pakistan side.

Addressing the Press Conference here today, Purhoit said that a strong village defense committees being formed at all the six border villages that would be operational within the ten kilometers areas with the help of Punjab Police. He said that these committees would work aggressively on war footing level to stop drug smuggling from Pakistan.

He said that during January 26th on Republic day such village committees with best output would be honored with Rs, 3 lac award and Rs. 2 lac for the team which stood on second position and Rs. 1 lac for third position in each border district of Punjab.

He said that frequent seizure of drones at Indo- Pak border by Punjab Police and BSF have sent shock wave to the Pakistani smugglers.

Purhoit said that his motive to visit in the border districts was to hold meetings with all   state and central intelligence agencies to get feedback and latest updates about the drug smuggling from Pakistan. He said that all the state and central intelligence agencies were told to work in tandem.

Appreciating the BSF personnel and famers of border villages he said due to die hard efforts of forces, smuggling of drugs got severe dent and due to hard labour of farmers the food bowl of the country always remained enriched.

He said that very shortly a new scientific technique was being brought at Indo-Pak borders that would positively stop drone movement from Pakistan to India. He said that Pakistan was not in position to dare direct war with India so adopted proxy war while sending drugs, arms and ammunition to India through drones in the border villages. He also assured to provide mobile science labs in the border village Khemkaran so that village youth could attain education in science subjects.
