Jet Airways appoints Ranjan Mathai as independent director

NEW DELHI: Jet Airways has appointed former foreign secretary Ranjan Mathai as an independent director on its board. The appointment is effective from March 21.

The Civil Aviation Ministry on March 21 granted security clearance for the appointment of Mathai as a director, the airline said in a filing to the BSE.

“Mathai’s appointment as an independent director of the company takes effect from March 21, 2017,” it added. Among others, he had served as foreign secretary. His appointment was approved by shareholders of Jet Airways in December last year. Naresh Goyal is the Chairman of Jet Airways and the directors on the board include well known poet Javed Akhtar and former IAS officer Vikram Mehta, as per the airline’s website.—PTI
