Mahindra launches XUV500 at Rs 12.32 lakhs

Mahindra & Mahindra launched its Plush New XUV500 to set a new benchmark in the premium SUV segment by offering a bold new design, plush, luxurious interiors and higher power and torque at a price of Rs 12.32 lakhs in Mumbai for the W5 variant. It is available in 5 diesel variants including optional pack with larger 45.72 cm Allow wheels and 1 Petrol variant, besides choice of seven colours.

Describing the XUV500 as a trendsetter following its launch in 2011 creating a ‘disruption’ in the industry, Rajan Wadhera, President, Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra, said this model has won as many as 30 awards and was the creator of the premium SUV segment in the Rs 12 lakhs to Rs 18 lakhs price range in India, while continuing to be the frontrunner in the segment by setting new trends and pushing boundaries.

Replying to questions, Veejay Nakra, Chief of Sales & Marketing, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra, said the automobile industry is witnessing a 17% growth in the SUV segment of which Mahindra has 5% growth, besides overall growth of 10.5%. The core segment of buyers for the Plush New XUV500 would be found in the Metro segment of around 30 years to 45 years of age, professionals and self-employed, besides also women customers, he noted.

Stating that the new XUV500 would be available at Mahindra dealerships across India with immediate effect, Nakra said the Plush New XUV500 offered the best-in-class safety with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, hill-hold and hill-descent control, first-in-class emergency call, disc brakes on all wheels & several other safety features including ‘first-in-class’ safety feature of “Emergency Calling.”

He said the XUV500’s mHawk155 engine delivers higher power of 114kW and torque of 360Nm with 6th generation electronically-controlled Variable Geometry Turbocharger. It is also loaded with best in class hi-tech features including: electric sunroof with first-in-class ORVM logo projection lamps, industry-first ‘New Smart Watch’ connectivity, 18 cm touchscreen infotainment with GPS navigation, Arkamys enhanced audio, Android Auto, industry-first, award-winning Connected Apps & Ecosense Technology.
