982 anti-social elements arrested in ‘Operation Aakarman’ in Haryana

*Illicit  & drug smugglers list prepared by Ambala police

Panchkula/ Ambala: Talking to media persons in his office Haryana Director General Police, Shatrujit Kapoor said that during 8th ‘Operation Aakarman’ conducted in Haryana state on Sunday, 1403 police teams led by SP or DSP comprising of 6737 policemen conducted a secret search campaign all over in the state which started early morning till late night, in which arrested 982 anti-social elements against them 505 criminal cases were registered at police stations across the state allegedly keeping arms, drugs and illicit liquor illegally. During raids, police registered 27 FIRs under Arms Act and recovered 27 pistols from 10 persons, 17 kg 625 gm ‘ganja’, 95.71 gm heroine, 102.68 gm smack, 2.216 kg charas from 17 drug smugglers. DGP said that during this campaign  police teams arrested one most wanted criminal on whom award was also declared for his arrest, five hard core criminals declared offenders in serious crimes, 11 persons involved in cyber crimes, 78 declared criminals by the police avoiding arrest since a long time, 70 bale jumpers and 73 others involved in different criminal activities.

According to Jashandeep Singh Randhawa SP Ambala, CIA -1 staff of Ambala police on a secret information arrested a youth identified as Raj Thakur a resident of Nashirpur in Badaun district (U.P) while coming from Saha in Ambala-Jagadhari Road on April 3 and he was stopped by the police team at Khudda-Dukheri T-Point for checking and recovered 2 kg 600 gm opium from his bag. A case was registered against the arrested accused under NDPS Act by Mahesh Nagar police station Ambala Cantt. Addressing media persons, SP Ambala Jashandeep Singh Randhawa said that prior to Lok Sabha elections district police has declared an alert against supply of drugs and illicit liquor and Narcotics Control Bureau in the district has already arrested a drug smuggler and started search for illegal suppliers of liquor from adjoining states during election days.
Randhawa said that district police have already compiled a list of illicit liquor suppliers in the area and arrested as many as 40 drug and liquor smugglers in the past sometime, and about seven drug smugglers and 22 drug suppliers are on the radar of district police. He disclosed that Ambala police recently during raids has arrested two liquor suppliers. Mahesh Nagar police station, Ambala Cantt recovered 22 cases and 124 quarter illicit liquor from Ramesh Kumar a resident of New Preet Nagar Ambala Cantt residing near Tangri bridge Ambala Cantt during a raid. Similarly, in another case Sadar police station team during a raid in a house in BC Bazar recovered 22 cases (264 bottles) illicit liquor from Ashwani Kumar and in both casesthe accused failed to produce a license or a permit.
