Credit remains key challenge for MSMEs despite govt efforts: Survey

New Delhi: A new survey by Consortium of Indian Associations has revealed that credit challenge still exists in spite of government taking proactive measures to bring ease in credit flow to MSMEs. 

The study noted that majority of the respondents felt the performance of their business has either remained stagnant or declined and access to credit remained a key challenge.

Further it highlighted that 72 per cent of the respondents said their performance is either stagnant or decreasing or stopped or wound up during the last five years.

Raising warning flags, the study reported that only 28 per cent of the respondents have confirmed that they are growing.

Another 76 per cent said that they are not making a profit while 45 per cent were of the opinion that there was no “ease of doing” feeling that exists in starting or running or closing or in their living style.

Only 21 per cent of the respondents believed that the central government has supported MSMEs adequately during the Covid-19 pandemic while 87 per cent of the respondents felt the Union Budget was disappointing or a big let-down or had no comments.
