Gold worth Rs. 92.06 lakhs seized at SGRDJI

Amritsar, March 12 – The sleuth of Custom department poste at Shri Guru Ramdas  ji International  (SGRDJI ) Airport have seized Gold worth Rs 92.06 lakhs with the arrest of accused who was a passenger from Kuala Lumpur Flight.

In a statement issued here today, Customs official stated that on the basis of information received, Customs AIU staff of SGRDJI International Airport, Amritsar intercepted one passenger coming from Kuala Lumpur by Flight Batik Air in the night of 11.03.2024. On his personal search, the passenger was found to be carrying 1.6 kg gold in bar form wrapped around the legs.

Official further stated that the gross weight along with Packing material  was 1. 607KG approximately and net weight of gold was 1.600 KG.  Gold valued of Rs. 92.06 Lacs. The same was seized under section 110 of Custom Act, 1962 and the accused was placed under arrest. Further investigation is under process.
