Haryana suffers revenue loss worth Rs 10598.74 crore in 3 months lockdown period

State government Haryana is trying hard to recover its economic condition suffered due to lock down declared in the state in the last week of March 2020 due to epidemic outbreak corona virus as such trade and industry in the state remained paralysed leaving adverse effect on revenue collection in the state. According to collected data, Haryana state government suffered drop in revenue collection worth Rs 10598 crore 74 lakh in three months from March to June. Moreover, state government failed to get special aid from Union government in this regard.

Haryana state government suffered severe shock due to non recovery of stamp and registration duty, whereas revenue collection towards sales tax (GST) witnessed drastic fall during months March till June due to lock down. As regard urban development charges, road transport and mining department, state government earned too less revenue adversely affected economic condition of the state in this period witnessing shortage of revenue collection worth Rs 2362.23 crore in month March, Rs 4228.69 crore in month April and Rs 4015.82 crore in month May this year.  However, state government Haryana hopes improvement in revenue collection during month June, 2020 due to unlock announced by the government and business activities have started to some extent.

According to TVSN Persad Additional Chief Secretary Finance Department Haryana, due to lock down trade and industry in the state  remained closed for about three months as such financial and industrial activities came to stand still during lock down period as such lesser amount of revenue was collected.. He said, efforts are being made to bring back state’s economic condition on the track. According to information,  Haryana state government was able to collect lesser amount of revenue as compared to usual revenue collection in past recording fall identified as Rs 808.30 crore in case of  central taxes, Rs 5133.50 crore in case of GST, Rs 1260.26 crore in case of  stamp and registration duty, Rs 1139.49 crore in case of state excise , Rs 550.83 crore in case of motor vehicle  tax,  Rs 515.82 crore in case of establishment development, Rs 246.33 crore in case of road & transport tax, Rs 108. 44 crore in case of mining and Rs 568.45 crore towards less financial aid received from Union Government.
