Panipat textile industry turning from local to global under ‘Make in India’ program

Panipat: Texrile and blanket industry of Panioat sees nearly 20% growth in export of textile products and blankets manufactured in Panipat as compared to previous years, while talking to The Financial World the president of Panipat Industrial Association Preetam Singh Sachdeva said that there are more than 125 units manufacturing blankets in the town, especially manufacturing  both Mink and Flamo blankets having much demand not only in domestic market as well as in other countries due to better in quality as well as prices competitive as comparing to the blankets manufactured in China. He said, blanket industry in the town doing annual business worth Rs 6000 crore in international markets, supplying goods in United States, United Kingdom, Australia and many other countries due to better in quality as well as price, selling Mink blankets at the price 3 dollar each kg as compared to Chinese manufacturers selling these blankets at the price Rs 3.5 dollar each kg, as such foreign buyers prefer to buy blankets manufactured in India better in quality and cheaper in price, which witnessed over 20 growth in export sale this year.

The president of Chamber of Commerce & Industry Vinod Dhamija said that the manufacturers in China suffering huge loss in business after spread of Carona epidemic outbreak started from and large number of foreign buyers shifted their procurements from Indian manufacturers after this. Dhamija said that foreign buyers now prefer to import textile products and blankets from Panipat manufacturers due to better in quality as well as cheaper in price, since Indian manufacturers are using cotten and wool in Mink and Flamo blankets, whereas manufacturers in China are mixing polyster in the raw material to earn more profit, resulting drop in quality as such many buyers have switched over their procurement from Panipat manufacturers. Sources reveal that textile goods and blanket manufacturers in China are facing severe slump in their sale since past couple of years and large number of manufacturing units have become sick or closed down due to increase in production cost and drop in quality of their products. Dhamija said nearly 1250 ton thread is being consumed by the Panipat textle goods manufacturers daily and the consumption of thread as well as wool is fast increasing day by day.

According to information, in recent past sometime nearly 95 manufacturers from India had visited exhibition and business fair in China, among those there were 20 manufacturers from Panipat industry textile manufacturing handloom, blankets and carpets which proved very beneficial for Indian manufacturers visited the exhibition.
