Political leaders start lobbying for 2 Rajya Sabha seats in Haryana

With the announcement of filling up 57 Rajya Sabha seats in Lok Sabha on June 10, 2022, which include two seats for Haryana state to be vacant due to completion of tenure of BJP supported Rajya Sabha members Dushyant Gautam and independent Rajya Sabha member Subhash Chandra large number of heavy weight political leaders in the state has already started lobbying for these seats. According to information, there is likely one each of these seats will be occupied by BJP-JJP alliance ruling candidate and other by Congress candidate. Political rumours reveal, Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala is willing to have this seat in favour of his party president Ajay Chautala his father or his brother Digvijay Chautala.

The present scenario reveals, there are 40 BJP, 31 Congress, 10 JJP, 7 independent, one each INLD and HALOP MLAs in Haryana Vidhan Sabha. Information reveals that large number of BJP as well as Congress political leaders including few former ministers and MLAs are in the race to occupy Rajya Sabha seat to be vacated by Subhash Chandra occupied by him in June 2016 with BJP support, whereas the second Rajya Sabha seat was in favour of former BJP minister Ch, Virender Singh  later submitted resignation during 2019 Lok Sabha polls for the sake of his son Brijinder Singh won polls. Dushyant Gautam a ‘Dalit’ leader from Delhi won Rajya Sabha seat in March 2020 on behalf of BJP. Both Retired Lt. Gen. Dr D.P. Vats from BJP and Deepender Hooda from Congress will hold their chairs  till April 2024 whereas Ram Chander Jagra from BJP will continue as Rajya Sabha member till April 10, 2026.

Information reveals, Kumari Shelja a former Rajya Sabha member   recently removed from the chair of Congress President in the state being near and dear to Sonia Gandhi is likely to be adjusted as Rajya Sabha member again by Congress high command. Sources reveal, there is a long list of senior BJP leaders including few former ministers attempting to occupy Rajya Sabha seat and the names of few of them include former BJP state president Om Parkash Dhankad, former BJP state president  Subhash Barala, former industry minister Vipul Goel,  former education minister Ram Bilas Sharma, former finance minister Capt Abhimanyu, former urban development minister Kavita Jain, ‘Dalit’ leader Krishan Panwar also a former minister, former MLA Bhagwan Das Kabirpanthi, former BJP convener Sudesh Kataria, Meenu Beniwal and Subhash Chandra wanting to retain this seat again.
