Punjab Congress politics likely to affect party politics in Haryana

SATISH HANDA

After Congress high command played ‘Dalit’ politics in Punjab state appointing  Charanjit Singh Channi as new chief minister compelling former Chief Minister Capt Amrinder Singh to resign due to political rift between Capt Amrinder Singh and state party president Navjot Singh Sidhu as asuch there is likely Congress high command  may now have to face similar challenge in Haryana too due to on-going political rift between former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and party president in the state Shelja having blessings by Smt Sonia Gandhi possessing all powers to run Congress network all over in the country in alliance with her son Rahul Gandhi. Like Punjab politics in which Capt Amrinder Singh had to part with his chief minister chair in Punjab state, likewise Congress high command may take similar type of decision in Congress network in Haryana state too in future.

According to information, Congress high command is going to take immediate action to finalize the appointment of office bearers in all districts in Haryana state and such matter lying pending since a long time in order to avoid worsening situation in Haryana too facing severe tift between senior party leaders similar to Punjab state. There is rift going on since a long times between former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and state Congress president Shelja. Undoubtedly, Congress high command may have to take action in Haryana similar to Punjab in case rift between senior Congress leaders continues.

Needless to say, former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda is a senior Congress leader ruled over in the state for 10 years have support of  24 to 26 Congress MLAs out of total number of 31 MLAs in Haryana Vidhan Sabha. On the other hand, Shelja too is a heavy weight Dalit Congress leader in the state near and dear to Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Hooda in-spite of being a Jaat leader has always proved himself a leader of all 32 communities when he was chief minister in the state. Similarly, Shelja in-the spite being a Dalit political leader has never restricted herself only to Dalits in state politics when she was a minister in Union government and a Rajya Sabha member and likewise Congress high command played Dalit card by appointing Sikh leader Channi as chief minister in Punjab state having large number of Dalit voters neglected senior Congress leader as well as state chief minister Capt Amrinder Singh, similarly Shelja’s chair as Congress party president in Haryana is also considered in safe zone in the state also having sufficient number of Dalit voters in Haryana.
