Punjab VB arrests ASI for taking Rs 6 lakh bribe

Amritsar : The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), has apprehended Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Raj Kumar, Incharge Police Post Kot Khalsa, Amritsar city for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 6 lakhs.

In a statement  here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above-mentioned police official has been arrested on an online complaint lodged by Amanchain Singh, a resident of New Udham Singh Nagar, Amritsar on the Chief Minister Anti Corruption Action Line.

He further informed that the complainant has alleged in his complaint that said ASI has obtained a bribe of Rs 6 lakh from him in lieu of getting him and his four relatives innocent during the enquiry of a murder case registered at Police Station Division-B, Amritsar.

The spokesperson informed that during investigation of this complaint it was proved that the said police personnel has taken a bribe of Rs six lakh from the complainant for the above said motive.

He added that in this regard a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered at VB police station Amritsar range. The accused would be produced in the competent court tomorrow and further investigation was under progress, he said.
