Rs 2.62 crore fine collected from overloaded vehicles & violating traffic rules in Haryana

 Movement of overloaded, unregistered vehicles and private buses from neighbouring states without having permit increasing in Haryana causing huge revenue loss to the government. Regional Transport Authority (RTA) as well as state transport and traffic police launched a campaign against such vehicles allegedly involved in illegal practices and violating traffic directions last year and collected amount worth Rs 2.62 crore in past five months towards fine, which include record amount worth over Rs 38 lakh collected from traffic violators overloading commercial vehicles in a special drive by RTA in month March this year.

 Information reveals, nearly 90% drop in violation of traffic rules and overloading in commercial vehicles has been recorded in past five years in Haryana state. Decision has been taken by state traffic police to cancel the driving license of the driver as well as well as cancel road permit of the vehicle immediately in case the vehicle caught second times violating rules. For the convenience of visitors to RTA office LED has been installed to provide awareness   of all important guidelines to visitors and save them from corrupt practices in the office as well as trapped in the grip of agents outside the office and a Help Desk is being  installed in all RTA officer to prove all types of information to visitors.

According to information, state government earned record revenue worth Rs 2.62 crore through 970 challans jointly by the teams of RTA, State Transport and police department. Traffic police data for the month March in past years reveals that amount worth Rs 32.94 lakh was collected towards fine on 249 vehicles in 2017, amount worth Rs  5.55 lakh was collected towards fine on 170 vehicles in 2018, amount worth Rs 38.52 lakh was collected on fine on 68 vehicles in 2019, amount worth Rs 11.79 lakh fine on 37 vehicles in 2020 and amount worth Rs 2.62 crore has been collected on 970 challans in a special drive against drivers violating rules in March, 2021, which include amount worth Rs 7.5 lakh recovered from 15 vehicles from neighbouring states violating rules, driving vehicles in Haryana without permit during March 2019.
