Hindu Shiv Sena leader assassinated in Amritsar

Amritsar, November 4 – A self-styled firebrand Hindu Shiv Sena leader Sudhir Suri shot dead in the full public view here today.

Confirming the death of Hindu leader of Shiv Sena outfit, Police Commissioner Amritsar Mr. Arun Pal Singh said, “Suri was staging a protest outside the Gopal Mandhir at Majitha Road, the busiest area of the city.  The assailant arrived on the spot and shot him dead in full public view.  Multiple gun fires were shot on Suri leaving him seriously injured and immediately he was shifted to hospital where he succumbed to bullet injuries”.

Singh said, “Multiple gunshots were pumped into Suri, whereupon he fell down unconsciously on the spot and rushed to hospital”.

Police said that the assailant was identified and nabbed on the spot by the security guards attached to Suri. The licensee weapon of the assailant was also seized”.

 Police said the alleged accused was a resident of Sultanwind area of Amritsar city.  The Interrogation of accused being carried out by several intelligence agencies along with team of police officers to bring out the motive behind assassination of Suri.

Suri was already on the hit list of several gangsters for a long time.  He was also enjoying sufficient security cover of police as eight Punjab police personnel were attached with him. Suri was allegedly raising his voice against the Sikh fundamentalist leaders that kept him in the media limelight.

Suri was staging a protest against the management of Gopal Mandhir which had allegedly thrown broken idols of Hindu goddess on road as waste material that had irked Suri who was claiming that it was a blasphemous act as per Hindu tenets.
