Two crore Government jobs every year merely a fake promise to youths: Report

New Delhi : The promise of 2 crore Government jobs every year remained only promises to youths, according to the data of the Union Ministry of Finance, there is an example of the government’s failure in central government jobs in the era of Modi Government. Cracking down on the prices of petrol and diesel, a new record was revealed after increasing unemployment among the youth across the country. According to the latest report of the Department of Expenditure of the Ministry of Finance, at present there are 30 lakh 13 thousand central government employees across the country. This is the lowest number of central government employees since 2010. Also, as the report states, both the number of posts and jobs sanctioned by the central government have declined significantly in the last 3 years.

Presently the number of vacant posts in central government jobs is 9 lakh 64 thousand. Union Territories are also considered as a state. How did the number of posts decrease? According to the Finance Ministry’s Annual Report on ‘Salaries and Allowances’, as on March 1, 2021, the number of regular workers sanctioned by the Center (excluding Union Territories) in the civilian sector stood at 40 lakh 35 thousand. But on March 1, 2022, it reduced to 39 lakh 77 thousand. It appears that there has been a lot of pressure regarding recruitment to Group C posts. At the same time, there has also been a considerable decrease in the number of employees working in the posts of the Central Government.

On March 1, 2021, 30 lakh 56 thousand were working in the central government. But last year, 2022 it reduced to 30 lakh 13 thousand. Means 9 lakh 64 thousand posts are vacant. The number of sanctioned posts, the number of employees and the number of vacancies is the lowest since 2010, the report said.

Yet the government is continuously reducing the number of sanctioned posts and employees in Railways, Defense (Civil) posts, Ministry of Revenue. According to the Central Government, new recruitments are being done in various ministries, government institutions, banks and other sectors through ‘Employment Fair’. At least 10 lakh new employment opportunities have been created through this ‘Rozgar Mela’. However, the Central Government does not provide any permanent solution to fill the vacant posts, not even mentioned of it. The opposition alleges that ‘the talk of 2 crore jobs is also a stunt to garner votes, in fact the Modi government is ending all government jobs’, rather employing as Contract basis mostly.
