Youth converts religion to marry female friend

YAMUNANAGAR (SATISH HANDA):At the time when controversy is going on in several states across the country including Haryana state to frame strict laws against cases of ‘Love Jehad’ and impose complete ban over forcible conversion of any religion. A unique case of marriage by a youth resident of village Mandebri in Yamunanagar district was reported this Saturday when a Hindu youth kidnapped a girl of Muslim community since both were in love affairs on November 20, 2020 night and girls family lodged a complaint with Thana Chhapper police station which started search for both but failed to find any clue.

The youth Akram got married his female friend Hindu girl after changing his name as Arvind in a temple at Sector 19 Panchkula according to Hindu rites and both approached police station at Panchkula seeking police protection. Both were produced before Punjab and Haryana High Court at Chandigarh when their statements were recorded in the court. They admitted married willingly and wanted to spend life together. Court directed SP Yamunanagar to provide complete police security to newly wed couple and sent both to Safe House Yamunanagar under police security to avoid a case of honour killing since a rift was seen among both families from different communities unhappy over this marriage.

It is first incidents seen in the area where a Muslim youth converted his religion to marry a Hindu girl since in most of the cases often reported females are changing their religion while marrying to youth of another community.
