Five members of a gang involved in ATM thefts arrested, 2 members yet absconding

Panipat : CIA staff of police arrested five members of a gang involved in ATM robberies in the state. During preliminary investigation the arrested accused admitted two ATM thefts in Panipat and Karnal, disclosing that on March 8, 2024 night they stolen amount worth Rs 3.69 lakh after cutting the ATM machine at village Nangalkheri in Panipat district as well as also stolen amount worth Rs 6.70 lakh from Axis Bank ATM counter installed at the Mall Road Karnal near the police station about a month ago.  Sandeep Kumar DSP told media persons that police have recovered a Creta car in which thefts were committed by the accused, a gas cutter, a LPG cylinder and a Oxygen gas cylinder. He said that search for another two members of the gang yet absconding arrest is still going on.

DSP told media persons that the accused were arrested on a information that five suspicious persons are sitting near the Munak river bridge suspected planning for a theft and after arrest by the police during a raid were identified as Dheeraj and Mohit both residents of Rajiv Colony Karnal, Ravi a resident of Ram Colony Karnal. They  disclosed the names of another members of their gang as Shiva a resident of Rajiv Colony, Tariq, Khursheed and Irfan all three residents of Palwal district in Haryana, when the police teams during raids arrested Shiva, Irfan and Tariq from village Gadrola in Palwal district. According to police information the vehicle in which ATM robberies were committed was owned by Dheeraj and they used to distribute robbed money and plan for the robbery in the room of Shiva taken on rent. The arrested accused disclosed that they started robbing ATMs to earn money. DSP said that Shiva has been sent to the jail, whereas the remaining arrested accused have been remanded to police custody by the count. The search for two yet absconding is going on.
