Harassment allegations against 11 IPS officers by group ‘D’ employees in Haryana

Punjab and Haryana High Court has served notices to Additional Chief Secretary Haryana and 11 IPS officers in the state on the complaints of as many as 37 group ‘D’ employees including cooks (Langri) preparing meals for police staff and prisoners, peons, gardeners, carpenters and sweepers working in state police department through an advocate Aditya Yadav  allegedly harassment and torture by the senior officers forcing them to work after duty hours without reimbursement of overtime or usually engage them in personal domestic work during and after office hours.

According to legal advisor Aditya Yadav, Punjab and Haryana Court served notices to Additional Chief Secretary Haryana government, Director General Police Haryana, Director HAP Madhuban (Karnal), Commander HAP 4 Battalion, DIG Hisar, SP Jind, SP Fatehabad, SP Palwal, SP Kaithal, SP Dadri, SP Gurugeam and SP Sirsa to submit reply to the court in this regard by March 17, 2022.

The legal advisor of complainants Yadav told that group ‘D’ employees in police department in the state are usually exploited by senior officers to work at their residence during and after duty hours between 9 AM till 5 PM in working days and on holidays illegally not as per Haryana civil services rules without paying overtime. When asked, most of the officers served notices by the High Court refusing allegations told that allegations are untrue and employees are working as per Haryana civil services rule.
