News In Brief: 5,95,112 vehicles banned in 13 Haryana districts

To curb increasing pollution at the capital Delhi and adjoining NCR area in the Haryana, transport department in the state have imposed ban over 5,95,112 vehicles including 2,87,611 petrol driven registered 15 years ago and 3,07,501 diesel driven registered 10 years ago in districts including  Sonept, Panipat, Karnal, Faridabad, Palwal, Gurugram, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Rewari, Mewat, Charkhi Dadri and Bhiwani. According to information, state transport government have already sent the list the registration number of these vehicles spreading pollution to traffic police and written to the owners of these vehicles that the registration number of their vehicles have been cancelled and surrender their registration documents. According to state transport department nearly 2500 such vehicles plying on toads have already been impounded by he traffic police in NCR area and those violating Supreme Court of India directions would be fined and those desiring to take such old vehicles outside NCR area to other states should obtain NOC from the state transport department. Information reveals, earlier in 2015, NGT had also imposed ban over old vehicles, but the decision was not implemented properly, when in July 2017 complete ban over such old vehicles was imposed in NCR area and traffic police was directed to take stern action against the violators.

Over Rs 102 crore electricity bills pending against 84262 defaulters in Ambala circle

Amount worth over Rs 102 crore towards electricity tariff is pending against electricity consumers in Ambala circle includes Ambala and Panchkula districts. According o NHVPN, among defaulters Ambala Cantt leads having 41,213 defaulters against whom amount worth Rs 48.67 crore is due, whereas amount worth Rs 18.79 lakh is due against 16,779 defaulters in Ambala and amount worth Rs 34.79 crore towards unpaid electricity bills due against 26270 defaulters at Panchkula. NHVPN had announced to waive off amount of fine on defaulter electricity consumers on September 20, 2018 if electricity bills are paid, but failed to get satisfactory response since hardly 7611  (9%) defaulters remitted the amount of pending electricity bills so fa r and only 18% amount towards power tariff couold be recovered rill November 30, 2018.

19 jails in Haryana to have ultra modern canteen for prisoner

Nearly 19886 prisoners lodged in 19 jails in Haryana state now would have hi-tech eating facilities in canteens in the jails where snacks including Berger, Chow-min, Branded Bread cheese toast, varieties of biscuits, Chana-Bhatura and other foods and beverages would be available to the prisoners lodged in jails. Lakhbir Brar Supdt Central Jail Ambala told that the prisoner would have on-line payment facilities where the relative of jail inmates would be able to transfer the amount on line through a software having account of all jail inmates capable to procure eatables up to Rs 8000 in a month.

13 out of 18 sealed screening plants running illegally raided

Out of total number of about 58 screening plants at Narinagarh area in Ambala district 18 screening plant were sealed by state mining and pollution department. A team led by Ms Aditi SDM Naraingarh conducted a surprise raid at 13 sealed screening plants at Raumajra, Mianpur, Sanghrana, Shahpur and Derra around Naraingarh on a information that these sealed screening plants are working illegally but surprisingly the owners of these plants managed to flee before arrival of raiding team suspecting the raid information was exposed. However, on the complaint of raiding teamHarbhajan Singh SHO Naraingarh registered a case against four screening plants found working illegally including three screening plants at Raumajra and one screening plant at Sangrani. Information reveals that in spite of all efforts by the mining department and the district administration have failed to stop illegal mining up to 50 feet depth going on near three rivers in the area is going on illegally by the mafias.

Airline Companies unwilling for flights from Hisar airport

In-spite of inviting tenders three times by Civil Aviation Department Haryana, none of the airline company seems willing to have flights for New Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Jammu and Jaipur. According to S.S. Badhwar Director Hisar Airport, there is yet no update when domestic flights from this airport would commence suspecting the airline companies are not taking interest probably finding such flights uneconomical. According to information, tenders on these routes were invited by the Civil Aviation Department Haryana on September 24, 2018 but none of airline company submitted offers, as such tender was re-invited on October 19, 2018 and November 5, 2018 but no offer was received from any airline company.
